River Fergus, Ennis Flood Scheme

Project Overview: Ennis is located in the south-west of Ireland in County Clare. The River Fergus runs through the centre of the town. East of the town it has its confluence with the River Fergus Minor and from there it continues in a southerly direction to Clarecastle and discharges to the Estuary. The River Fergus is prone to flooding.

The project involved providing 3 new storm water pumping stations along the banks of the River Fergus ranging from 150 l/s to 365 l/s including inlet screening, overflow screening, controls and associated equipment. FM Environmental Ltd was responsible for the M&E works involved in the project as detailed below.

Scope of Work: Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of Pumping Stations @ Courthouse, Castlelawn and Francis Street:

• Submersible pumps:

·        2 No. Xylem 15 kW Pumps

·        3 No. Xylem 22 kW Pumps

·        3 No. Xylem 48 kW Pumps

• Pipework, valves and fittings up to 600mm Diameter

• Grilles in overflow chambers

• Pumping Station and overflow chamber access covers and safety grilles

• Boulder trap baskets

• Switchgear and Control Panels

• Rotating Bar Interceptor
